After prostate surgery I am unable to urinate properly during the day but wake up a couple or times at night and urinate quite normally during* the day I wear pads and have to change them every couple of hours
Bladder problems and urine leakage are quite common after prostate surgery. As you are experiencing urine leakage and need pads suggests your bladder and urinary muscles may still not be working normally.
It would be a good idea to speak to your GP, urology nurse, or surgeon, particularly if you feel you are not emptying your bladder properly or if the leakage is significant.
I appreciate this must be frustrating for you, but the good news is that this usually improves over time, and there are treatments and exercises that can help that your specialist team can advise you on.
