I appreciate your concerns over your recent smear results.

An ectropion removal would not usually cause HPV to become active. HPV can stay in the body for many years without causing any problems. This is because the virus can be inactive for a long time.

Low grade dyskaryosis means there are mild changes to the cells on the cervix. These changes are often linked to HPV and in many cases go back to normal on their own.

It is good that you have an appointment on 8 August, as the hospital team will be able to take a closer look and explain what the results mean for you.

If you have any new symptoms, such as unusual bleeding, pain or discharge, let your GP or hospital team know.
