It's completely understandable that you're feeling concerned, especially as you're caring full-time for your wife.

At the moment, it's important to remember that finding a mass on the liver does not always mean cancer,

and the specialist appointment should help give you clearer answers.

The two-week referral is a standard way to make sure people with possible serious conditions are seen quickly.

It's encouraging that your bowel cancer was treated successfully six years ago. Many people go on to live well for years after treatment.

Try not to assume the worst until you have spoken to the specialist and had any tests they recommend.

In the meantime, make sure you have support around you from your family and friends.

It is important to inform your GP and the hospital specialist about your role as a full-time carer early on.

You can ask them to refer you for a formal Carer's Assessment

through your local council to put a contingency plan in place.
