Mayloma

What's this for

  • Hello Rosita and thank you for posting.

I think you may be asking about myeloma. If I have misunderstood your question, please get back to us, and we will be happy to help.

Myeloma (also called multiple myeloma) is a type of blood cancer that develops from plasma cells in the bone marrow. Bone marrow is the spongy tissue inside our bones where blood cells are made. Plasma cells normally help fight infection by making antibodies. In myeloma, these cells become abnormal and grow out of control.

Myeloma can affect the bones, immune system, kidneys and the body's ability to make healthy blood cells. Symptoms can vary from person to person and may include bone pain, tiredness, repeated infections and unexplained fractures.

We have more detailed information about myeloma on our website. If you have any specific questions, please get back in touch. If you would prefer to speak with one of our nurses, you can call our freephone helpline on 0808 800 4040 , Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

    Kind regards,

    Jemma
