- Can this high level be cancer related due to family menber having bowl cancer
Hi there and thanks for posting
I am sorry to hear a family member is undergoing some tests at the moment, this is understandably a worrying time.
The faecal calprotectin level is often raised because of inflammation in the bowel. This can be caused by many different inflammatory bowel diseases, as well as cancer.
It will only be further tests, such as colonoscopy that is able to inspect the bowel more closely, that will be able to give more information.
Try and take things one step at a time for now and don't let your mind run away with itself until you know more.
Do get back in touch if you have more questions or if you prefer give us a call on 0808 800 4040, we're here weekdays 9-5.
Best wishes
