MRI Scanning - haven't had any since I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2019. Is this normal?

I was diagnosed with localised Prostate Cancer in August 2019.  I had a MRI scan then and I have not been offered one since?  So is that normal or should they (hospital) have scanned me every year for the past 6 years?  I have my Tamusolin once a day and a blood check every 6 months. I noted that they had me down as active surveillance yet I elected to be watchful waiting?

  • Hi there- my husband was diagnosed with the same in 2022.  He is on ‘active surveillance’ & has 6 monthly blood tests to monitor his PSA levels but no other treatment.  He has only been offered an MRI scan if his PSA  levels have risen so perhaps if your PSA levels are stable that may be the reason for no MRI scan?  It might be worth asking your team why you’ve not been offered an MRI if you feel you would  be happier having one annually?
