My cancer treatment.

I have had 10/12 cycles of chemo with FOLFOX. In early June after cycle 8 was told my urology stent required renewing ( my urology is carried out at a different hospital to my chemo). To enable this I had to have the ‘BEV’ part of my chemo for 5 weeks so that covered cycles 9 and 10. My stent was renewed on the 1st July and my next chemo, cycle 11, should be this week commencing 08th July, but I have heard nothing about the pre chemo blood test or a chemo date.

I have spoken to the nursing team twice at my chemo hospital and they say the appointments have been requested but the appointments team haven’t responded yet. This is worrying me that no sense of urgency is being shown bearing in mind I have now been 6 weeks without ‘BEV’ and no appointments are forthcoming.

I am at a loss as what to do next. In your opinion, is this normal and what should I do?

Thank you.

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I am sorry that you are feeling worried about this but I would say that delays do occur. If someone is unwell, or needed added healing time after a procedure or surgery things would be delayed, but treatment would still go well. I appreciate it is frustrating but you seem to have done all you can.

If you have a specialist nurse you could contact them, they may be able to help.

Hopefully you will here from them soon and this will all get started back up again.

Take care and If you would like to talk anything through our number is 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri 9-5.
