Lump in my eyelid, painless, losing eyelashes too??

Been to see my GP, after 3 months of having this lump He examined my eye, asked multiple questions etc... confirmed to him, it's nearly 4 months now, lump the size of a Petit Pois Pea/Garden Pea. It's painless to touch?? Lost a few eyelashes, it's affecting my sleep because it's hard trying to sleep with this lump that shouldn't be there !! DR confirmed he's referring me to a Dermatologist, Opthalmologist and also a specialist. DR said in his own words " He's sure it's cancer, more than sure, but we must wait for all the above professionals confirmation before we talk treatment, surgery etc.......

He explained it's probably BCC or SCC  Also he was rather worried because my mother passed away 4 years ago due to Melanoma Cancer

I'm petrified, lost, up and down, confused and above all, married to the love of my life only four months ago and I'm not sure what to do ??

Please, any help or conversation would be appreciated.

Thank you

  • Hi Janty- so sorry to hear what you’re going through at the moment, it’s a really stressful time which I can certainly relate to.

I, too, was told by my GP that I had a BCC (without tests, just by looking at it) & that I was being referred to a Dermatologist for further tests,  The wait for the appointment seemed endless but when I finally got to see the Consultant, she looked at it through a magnifying glass & told me that just by looking she could tell it wasn’t a BCC, that I didn’t need a biopsy or any further treatment & that I was discharged! So, in short, sometimes GPS jump the gun with their diagnosis without involvement from any of the relevant specialists or appropriate tests.  I know it’s hard but try to wait for the proper diagnosis before assuming the worst.  It sounds like you have a lovely partner who I’m sure will support you through this which is a massive help,  Good luck with the tests, & I hope you get a good outcome that will help to put your mind at rest,  Take care xx
