Just wondering ,due to start Immunotherapy in 2 weeks ,terminal cancer diagnosis, and a heart condition.Travelled to Italy no problem with heart In Jan 25 when it was cool,Nod I have terminal lung cancer ,would it be ok to travel to Berlin for a week in October when it is mild ,not warm or freezing ?

  • Hi GerryFighter, and thank you for getting in touch,

I’m really sorry to hear about your situation. This must be an incredibly difficult time, and, understandably, you want to make plans and have something to look forward to.

In terms of your trip to Berlin in October, the person best placed to advise is your specialist or GP, as they know your full medical history and the treatment you’re about to start. Whether travelling is possible will depend on how you respond to treatment, how you’re feeling at the time, and any side effects you may experience.

Although it may feel uncertain right now, some people are still able to travel during or after treatment.

If you do decide to book, you might want to look for flexible options, such as tickets or accommodation that can be changed or cancelled, in case your plans need to change. Travel insurance can sometimes be more difficult to arrange when you have a cancer diagnosis, so it may be worth looking into this early and shopping around. We have some information about travel insurance on our website that you might find helpful.

I’m sorry I can’t give you a more definite answer at this stage. I hope you can get support with this soon. Please do get back in touch if you’d like to talk this through further. You can also speak to one of our nurses on the helpline , we’re here Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on freephone 0808 800 4040.
