Can the mirena mean you can avoid a hysterectomy?
Can the mirena mean you can avoid a hysterectomy?
Hello and thank you for posting.
The best people talk to about treatment decisions are the doctors. No one else is able to give a medical opinion on what can happen as it is only them who know the situation.
However, I can say that if helpful we have information on stage 1 endometrial cancers on our website. On those pages we also discuss treatments.
Doctors will always prefer surgeries in most situations, but sometimes this is not possible. This may mean that other hormonal treatments are used instead.
When deciding about the plan doctors have to take into account peoples age, general health as well as the stage and grade of cancer, but they do also talk things through with the patient so that their opinion is taken into account.
Take care and I hope this has been helpful. If you would like to talk to the nurses on the helpline call 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri, 9-5 (closed Bank Holidays).
Sarah.
