Hi Dollysocks and thank you for your post.
I’m really sorry this has made you feel worried. It’s completely understandable.
I’m also not sure who you spoke to on the phone, but hospital policy rarely allows receptionists and clerical staff to provide any information about results,
because they do not have the medical training to interpret your results or the clinical authorisation to disclose them.
Most hospitals only allow doctors and nurses to give results.
It is never easy waiting to get results and hospitals can vary in the way their patients receive them. They can be given face to face, or by letter or telephone.
But regardless of how someone receives their results from their doctor, there is no way of knowing whether the news is good or bad, so try not to over think things for now.
Easier said than done but try and take it one step at a time until you know more.
Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help.
Please get back to us if you need any more information or support
It might help to talk things through with one of our nurses on the helpline. You can call for free on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
I hope you know more soon and everything is okay.
Kind regards
Tina
Thank you Tina
