Continuous Cancer worries

I have just been fast tracked for colposcopy by my GP . It came back with no issues but as my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year I am continuously worried even without symptoms now about possible bowel cancer.
my fob fit test last September was negative and as I said I have no symptoms at all but it is constantly on my mind

is this normal to have these worries

it seems so illogical and there are times I tell myself it is highly unlikely that I do have it but due to recent events I cannot stop thinking about this

  • Heya.

Welcome to the forums in order to begin with. I’m a former chemotherapy and surgery patient. So I’ve been there and seen that. If you call the helpline 0808 800 4040 tomorrow morning you should be able to talk with a nurse. We are all here for you. Take it slowly and breathe in and out slowly not quickly as well. One thing I did was to keep a chemotherapy diary. Whilst in hospital for the gruelling treatment I asked how I could be involved. Best wishes. Keep us updated.

Find out about charities that can offer support for you. Make brief summary notes at each appointment. See if you can have extra support at home too. Ask your local council about financial grants for home adaptations. Also research distraction techniques. You can find videos on YouTube or make your own. I used to read novels whilst I was in hospital having chemo. I also did puzzles and arts and crafts. I did learn new games. Every week I had five things to learn. Contact Bowel Cancer for more advice and support on your treatment choices.
