One week after ct colonography and I have hardly had a bowel movement. Is this something to be worried about?

Hi, i was referred for urgent suspected colon cancer screening at the end of March. Since then I had an endoscopy which came back ok and a colonoscopy which despite me following the prep carefully I was told half way through the colonoscopy that I was still constipated. After this I was referred for a ct colonography last Wednesday. Again I followed the instructions for bowel preparation and was told to expect the results from my consultant in 2 weeks.

Im just a little concerned because after having the colonography last Wednesday morning ive not pooped until today but it was like ribbons and didn't seem enough to have had a complete bowel movement (sorry for all the info). I also keep feeling really dizzy with wobbly legs, but I saw my locum gp for this and she checked blood pressure etc and everything was fine.

Do you think the bowel movement is anything to worry about? There wait for results seems to be taking forever.

Thankyou.

  • Hello BigmammaB and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are concerned about your bowel movement following your colonography procedure. The ribbon shaped bowel movements may be because you have taken a lot of bowel prep and they are hopefully slowly returning to normal so try not to over think it for now.

It is good that you were checked by a GP and he wasn't concerned about your dizziness and wobbly legs.

Hopefully you will get your results from the colonography soon.

If you would like to chat through any of this with one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a ring.
