Borderline ovarian cyst

Hi, any info would be much appreciated, I have had ovarian cysts for many years i had a dermoid removed around 10 years ago im 33 by the way, around 2019 another ‘dermoid’ appeared on the right ovary it’s been scanned multiple times never changed/grown my last scan was 2024 stable around 4cm until now i had a US scan in Feb for some pain and my anxiety more than anything made me request this scan, shown the cyst had grown from 4cm too 7cm so was sent for a mri this was march anyway heard nothing got a call in April to make an appointment with gyne for next week so longish time to be thinking. Anyway I happened too check my nhs app this weekend and seen a letter from the consultant to my gp explaining it’s now a borderline cysts (never heard of this) and surgery too be offered while trying to preserve most the ovary or if not regular scans but then says patient to be informed small risk of ovarian cancer!!! So I don’t understand I have been waiting weeks no call nothing just a routine appointment too discuss! If you google borderline cysts it’s vary vague. Anybody ang advice personal experience thanks again x

  • Heya

Welcome to the forums in order to start with. It’s nice to meet you. You can do this and we are all here with you too. Good luck. I recommend seeing if you can get another opinion pronto as well. The helpline number is 0808 800 4040. Call the helpline to talk with a nurse. Tell us a few more details about your type of cancer and what stage it is in addition here. That would be very useful. Keep us updated.

  • No but do talk with your team. They can give you more information and support too. If you are with a breast or ovarian cancer team I’d get in contact with them and see what they can do. Good luck and do update us.
