  • Hello and thanks for your enquiry,

I can appreciate your concern about your wound. It does sound like it could be infected, and you may need a course of antibiotics, and further wound advice.

Do seek prompt medical advice from your GP, or GP surgery nurse practitioner, if your GP surgery has one.

You can contact your hospital breast care nurse, but they often advise that you see your GP first anyway.

I hope this helps, and you get this sorted out soon,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda

  • Thank you I went to the walk in on breast nurse advice got wound cleaned and antibiotics, stitches had stopped melting so the nurse put some funny looking gauze on to break them down and banned my b h for four days so see them again on Saturday I love this site so informative

  • Hi Umbongo,

I'm sorry to hear that you've had these problems since your had your lumpectomy. I am glad to hear that you have seen the breast nurse and had the wound cleaned, as well as been given antibiotics. I hope that this heals up quickly and that it soon begins to feel more comfortable for you.

Please keep us posted. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • Had to go and have a lot of fluid drained at hospital not pleasant there was a full kidney dish and they sent half the syringe full to the lab, gave me stronger antibiotics but it's still feeling hard inside, hey ho just been one thing after another but it really helps to speak to someone about it and get really good advice thank you .

  • Hi Umbongo,

I had to have mine drained 4 times after my double mastectomy. I didn't find the procedure too bad, but found the relief it gave me when the pressure was removed immense. Here's hoping that the stronger antibiotics will do the trick!
