Non Hodgin Lymphoma B Cell Stage 4

Hey I have my 13 year old son who was diagnosed in the last 3 months with the above mentioned title of Cancer. And after his first chemo treatment a week later he developed a Brain stroke in his Basilar Artery and was transferred and treated in a different hospital and woke up 3 days later in intensive care unit unable to speak or move or four limbs he is in total shock and doctors keep telling it is very rare and want to look for another chemo treatment and I am in a really difficult situation any help or advice I really would appreciate. Thank you.

  • Hello and thank you for posting. I am so sorry to hear about your son, that must be incredibly difficult for you and your family.

As we are not doctors or part of your son's team we cannot give a medical opinion. They will know, and be getting advice on, what they feel they are able to do next. At the moment the doctors' focus may be to help get him a bit stronger after what his body has gone through with the stroke.

Please do ask the doctors and nurses to explain to you where things are at currently, and what they feel the plan might be.

At the hospital they should also have a team who support parents when their children are unwell in ITU, if you have not already seen anyone do also ask your sons nurse about this.

We have information on our website about children's Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and it's treatments and we also have a page on children's cancer support organisations that may help you and your family.

I am so sorry that we have been unable to give you the information that you asked for at this time. If you would like to talk to our nurses on the helpline do call 0808 800 4040. Lines are open Mon-Fri, 9-5.

    Sarah.
