Calprotectin 400 and fit 10

Hi everyone,

I just wanted some advice or reassurance on these results as im having a colonoscopy in 6 weeks and im a bit scared I have chrons. I have joint pain, blood in stool, bloating and rigjt sided lower abdominal pain

  • Hi Kk1987 and thank you for your post.

I’m sorry you are worried about your calprotectin and FIT test results and can understand you wanting to find out more.

These results can feel scary, but they don’t mean you definitely have Crohn’s.

I'm afraid we are unable to diagnose or tell anyone if anything is the matter but a calprotectin of 400 shows there is some inflammation in the bowel, but this can happen for many reasons, not just Crohn’s. Infections, piles, or other bowel problems can also raise it.

The colonoscopy is the best test to find out what is the reason for your score.

I hope you know more about your situation soon and everything is okay. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Tina
