Single dose intense radiotherapy

My partner has recently had a parietal craniotomy for kidney cancer that is also in the lungs. Hes going to have one treatment steriotatic intense radiotherapy . Does this mean it's palliative treatment . I used to be a scrub nurse in neuro theatre and think this means it terminal. This has never been mentioned . Thanks Julie

  • Hi Julie and thanks for your post

I am sorry to hear about your partner and the treatment he needs to have.

To get a better idea about what is going on with your partner and the aims of the treatment you need to speak with the specialist team involved.

However from what I am aware a dose of stereotactic radiotherapy after a parietal craniotomy can be an effective treatment for managing brain metastases from renal cell carcinomas.

I hope this helps but do speak with your partner and his doctor to get more information about his situation.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
