Gynaecological carsinosarcoma

Hello. I'm trying to find out if there are any gynae oncologists within the NHS that specialise in Cardinosarcoma? I don't think my team know what they're doing other than following protocol. Since my first scan to the 2nd before chemo started (3 months delay) It has now spread to my abdominal wall and my liver.

Thanks.

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I’m sorry to read about your gynaecological carcinosarcoma diagnosis and appreciate this must be a worrying time for you.

We don't usually recommend specific hospitals as such, but I’m aware that there are NHS gynaecological oncology teams who have specific experience with gynaecology cancer, but they are usually based in large specialist centres such as University College Hospital, London, and Guy's and ST. Thomas's Hospital London.

There are two large specialist cancer centres that treat only cancer patients. These are the Christie Hospital in Manchester, and the Royal Marsden Hospital, London

Patients are usually discussed within a MDT ( Multi Disciplinary Team) in the hospital where all the specialists come together to decide the best course of action for each individual patient. The decisions are based upon the type and stage ( size and extent) of cancer and how fit and well they are.

Your specialist team will be able to refer you to a hospital offering the treatment you need.

I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
