After chemo I usually don’t open my bowels for a few days, I’ve had pain that goes when I’ve been but can’t understand where it’s all coming from, stools normal but going a lot, I have rectal cancer, very uncomfortable.

Hello and thanks for posting
I'm sorry you are experiencing bowel changes from your chemotherapy treatment. This must be difficult time for you.
After chemotherapy, it’s common for the bowel to slow down for a few days. When things start moving again, your bowel may try to clear the build‑up, so you can go several times, even if the stools look normal. The pain you are experiencing can come from pressure building up, then easing once you’ve emptied your bowel.
Gentle things that may help are taking warm drinks, eating small meals, walking, and if necessary, medications can be given to slow the bowel down.
Do speak to your chemotherapy team if you have worsening pain, vomiting, or if the frequency of bowel movements are getting worse.
I hope things improve for you soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards,
Celene
