neuroendocrine tumour

my partner has an neuroendocrine tumour in her pancreas, shes been living with it for 8 years and has recently completed a radiation treatment course in canada. Can you help me, i want to know of any possible treatment options for her, how i can help her with day to day life and help her really beat this damn thing. I'm a british resident so the long distance is painful. but shes everything to me and i just want to support and help her as best as i can. thank you for any advice you can give.

  • Hello Bill3020 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation. This must be particularly hard for you both particularly as your partner is living so far away.

As a cancer charity we fund research and clinical trials but don't have access to doctors who can give a medical opinion.

The best people to advise her about treatment are her own doctors who are involved in her care and know what treatment she has had before. As your partner has had this cancer for 8 years she may well have had many different treatments over this time.

There may be the option of your partner getting a second opinion if she feels that she wants to have another doctors input about any new treatment choices or options of a clinical trial (if one was available)

Treatment is also very personalised and a lot would depend on the type of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumour your partner has.

We have a page on our website about pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours which you might find helpful to look at.

You may be interested to know that there is a neuroendocrine cancer charity that you might find helpful to get in touch with.

I am not sure if your partner is aware but there is the Canadian Cancer Society. They may be able to advice your partner on any research that is going on in Canada and help provide some support.

I hope that some of these links maybe helpful. Do give the nurses a ring on the helpline if you would like to talk things through.

The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
