Hi the gynecology receptionist seems to think I'm OK to have my repeat 6 weeks ca125 bloods done when on my period. I've read so much about menstruation making it higher so why say ok to have it when on period
Thanks

Hi there and thanks for the post
You are correct in saying that being on your period can raise the ca125 as it measures any inflammation in the pelvic region.
I think it is best to have the blood test done a week after your period to ensure a more accurate measurement.
I hope this helps.

They have given me an exact date which is 6 weeks after the original appointment. And then a follow up don't think will be able to delay by a week
Hi again,
If this appointment can't be changed then you are best to have the blood tests and let the gynaecologist know at the follow up if you were on your period when the test was done. try not to worry about it.
