  • Hello J07 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation and I can only imagine how frustrating this can be when they can't find the cause of your symptoms.

We are a nurse led service without any doctors who can give a second opinion. It is also very hard to say very much without being involved in your care.

I am not sure what tests you have had to help rule out any health conditions.

If you have been in hospital the doctors have probably been monitoring your symptoms. I can only suggest that you go back to your GP if your symptoms don't improve.

I am not sure what you are managing to eat but it may help to keep a food diary to see if there is any trigger that is the cause of some of your symptoms.

I have included a link for Inherited genes and increased cancer risk. just for you to look through. If you do have a history of bowel cancer, (particularly if there are genetic changes) in the family then it is worth discussing this with your doctor to see whether you need a referral to a genetic clinic for genetic testing. It is only your GP or the doctors at the hospital who can say whether this would be a good idea.

I do hope that you know more soon.

You may find it more helpful to ring and chat this through with one of the helpline nurses.

The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
