Blood in poo 2 years post colorectal surgery

Hi, I would love a little guidance as I’ve had a streak of blood in my poo twice over the last 2 weeks. I have my surveillance blood test next week after 2 years of initial surgery then reversal of stoma. Should I contact my specialist nurse? Thank you

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your previous diagnosis and treatment for cancer.

It is understandable to be concerned about the blood you have noticed in your poo but there could be other reasons for this apart from the cancer coming back.

To be on the safe side it is worth mentioning it to your specialist nurse or GP just so they can assess you and run any tests necessary.

Hopefully nothing serious is going on but I hope you can get some peace of mind soon.

Do get back in touch anytime on here or give us a call on 0808 800 4040 weekdays 9-5 if you prefer.

    Best wishes

    Naomi

  • Thank you so much for responding. I’ll have a chat with my colorectal nurse.
