Breast and arm pain - I'm 5 months post partum, but I've never experienced anything like this after having my other 2 children

Hello

I am a 29 year old female, very fit and healthy, 3 children.

I have been having left breast pain for 3 weeks, with a tender armpit, I have now had some swelling on my forearm thats sore to touch, tingling and slight numbness that comes and goes down my arm and finger tips.

My gp reffered me for an ultra sound under 2ww, as she could feel small 2 pea sized lumps - although my breasts have lots of little squishy lumps it feels like! Im really concerned about the pain thats spread to my under arm, forearm, shoulder, back and generally everywhere in my body that comes and goes multiple times per day.

The skin around my nipple has a winkle/puckering type look but that comes and goes its not always there and its the same on my other breast. I have also had loose bowels movements for 12 days, my bloods have came back fine but I know they cant detect anything sinister. Any reason for any of this? I am 5 months post partum, but I have never experienced anything post partum with my other 2 children. It feels like muscle, nerve and bone pains throughout my body that comes and goes all day.

Thank you

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you have and appreciate what a worrying time this must be for you.

It is good you have seen your GP and they have referred you to the breast clinic for further checks. There can be so many reasons for symptoms and most won't be the result of a cancer, so try not to over think things for now. You have had a baby quite recently and whilst you didn't have anything like this with them doesn't mean this can't be related this time around.

Unfortunately no one here or anywhere else for now can say what the matter may be but hopefully you will be seen quickly and know more very soon.

Do let the breast unit know about all your symptoms so they can assess you properly and I do hope the appointment goes well for you.

You are welcome to get back in touch if you want to or give us a call on 0808 800 4040 weekdays 9-5 if you prefer.

    Take care

    Naomi
