Hi,
I am due to have sentinel node biopsy of the groin, skin graft of the ankle.
I was wondering when I can put weight on my ankle? Also, what exercises do I need to do and when?
How long should I keep my leg elevated for?
Thanks

Hi Mimmie and thank you for posting,
It sounds like you might be getting ready for surgery for a skin cancer, but if that’s not quite right, just let us know.
Your hospital team will be the best people to talk to about what happens afterwards, because they’ll know exactly what kind of graft you’re having and your full medical history. They’ll make sure you have all the information you need about how to look after the area once the surgery is done.
While you’re waiting, it could be helpful to get in touch with your clinical nurse specialist (CNS) if you have one. They can often give you more information and talk things through in a bit more detail.
I’m sorry I can’t be more specific at the moment without knowing a bit more about your diagnosis. If you’d like to share more about the type of skin cancer or graft you’re having, you’re welcome to call our helpline to chat with one of our nurses on 0808 800 4040 Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.
Wishing you all the very best with your upcoming surgery.
