Ultrasound may have found blood clots. Getting a call on Friday to discuss my results. I'm a bit scared as I don't know if this is serious or not

I went to my GP about my irregular periods as i can have them up to 2/3 weeks at a time and the Dr done a smear test she said that she never seen anything unusual but referred me to get a ultrasound and transvaginal just in case, When i went to the hospital they done the scans and at the end i asked is anything wrong as i have never done this before as i am only 22 years old and she said she can't confirm but thinks it's blood clots but wants to refer me to gyno to get a look on better screens and do further tests.

3 working days later, 5 including weekend my GP called me on the monday and said that another doctor is going to call me on friday to discuss my scan results. I'm just a bit scared as i don't know if this can be serious or not and i'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience i don't think im pregnant or that sort of thing because im on the implant.

  • Hello Misty03 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are having investigations and I can understand how unsettling this must be for you.

Everyone's situation is very different so even though it can be a comfort to post on the forum it is very difficult to compare one person's situation with another.

There are many different conditions that people can get that are far less serious then cancer. Try not to overthink it for now.

Hopefully things will become clearer on Friday when the doctor discusses your scan results.

Don't be afraid to ask the doctor questions as they are explaining their findings and if there is anything you don't understand then ask them to go over it again.

I hope things will be okay.

Do give the nurses a ring on the forum if you want to talk things through.

The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
