VIN 3 and vulva cancer operation

I have had 3 operations 3 june 25, 25th Sept 25 to remove VIN3 cells and do biopsies. 9th January 26 I had to have a operation to remove a small amount of cancer in my vulva area.

I have a face to face consultation on 3rd February 26.

Iam a little worried over results, but iam also concerned over the tingling, crawling, warm sensation,  and slight bleeding im experiencing at the moment? Is this a normal healing process?

I have already had two infections and they were treated with antibiotics.  Im also on evorel conti hrt patches, my anxiety is pretty bad, but iam trying to keep myself calm.

Is there any advice you could give me, in order to keep myself calm . Anything I would really appreciate your advice.

  • Hello Blondworrior4 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation. I can understand that it is an anxious time for you waiting for results.

It is hard for the nurses hear to give an opinion about the symptoms that you have been experiencing without being involved in your care.

I would have thought a small amount of bleeding is to be expected and after any surgery for vulval cancer the area can become much more sensitive.

It is good to hear that you are having a face to face meeting with the specialist tomorrow. I am sure you will be examined and have a chance to have your questions answered. It may help to write down a few of the concerns that you have so you can go through them with the doctor.

We have a page on our website about caring for your vulva after any surgical treatment.

Sometimes it can help to get in touch with organisations that help patients manage anxiety at this difficult time. There is a charity called Anxiety UK

There is also an NHS charity called Every Mind Matters

You are also very welcome to ring the nurses on the helpline.

The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
