  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry a recent CT scan showed that you have an ovarian tumour, and I appreciate that this must be a worrying time for you.

The ovaries can sometimes be hard to see on an ultrasound scan. Try not to over think things for now until you have been seen by the gynaecology team and have all the facts. Whilst cancer has to be ruled out as a possibility there could be other reasons for the ovarian tumour such as a benign cyst or lump, so sit tight for now.

No one can tell you what treatment you are likely to need until all your test results are known. Some women need no treatment, just monitoring. Some may need surgery to remove or check the lump.

Easier said than done but try and take it one step at a time until you know more. Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help. Also try and focus on what you can control right now by eating a good diet, getting enough rest, and doing some gentle activities that you enjoy.

I hope you know more soon.. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
