Blood tests

I am waiting on gynocology,  ive got large swelling in my armpit with a large lump and on my breast so waiting for breast clinic also. My doc gave me antibiotics because she thinks its an infection of the lymph nodes this alone freaked me out, she sent me for blood tests be ause my womb lining is 6.6. I also have a calcified rim fibroid. So my blood test cam back. My blood count was spot on but the SE/ CA WAS 348 this is panicking me as I should only be 35 range. Does anyone else have this? Could this be because of infection?

  • Hello Katdea, and thank you for posting,

It sounds like you’ve been dealing with a lot recently, and I can imagine how worrying these symptoms and the uncertainty around them must be for you.

Waiting for hospital appointments, tests, and results can be an especially stressful time. Many people tell us that this period feels the hardest because so much feels outside their control, and it’s completely understandable to feel anxious.

The blood test you mentioned is likely the CA125. Although a raised CA125 can sometimes be linked to cancer, it’s important to remember that there are many other non‑cancerous causes too. Conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, or pelvic inflammatory disease can all raise CA125 levels. Unfortunately, until further tests are carried out, it’s not possible to know what the cause is.

As hard as it is, taking things one step at a time can sometimes help. I hope you have family or friends who can support you while you wait.

If you’d find it helpful to talk things through, our nurses are here for you on the helpline between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday. You can call us free on 0808 800 4040.

I really hope you won’t have to wait too long for your appointment.
