Bruising after radiotherapy and brachytherapy. Is this normal?

I finished my treatment 4 weeks ago..Radical.hysterectomy 25 radiotherapy and 2 brachytherapy..I am 77 and recovering well..I have been getting little red spots on my arms and became scared when they said it could be leukaemia..I can't find it as a side affect of the radiotherapy

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to read about what you've been through but pleased that you are now recovering well from your treatment.

It’s completely understandable to feel worried when something new appears on your skin. Tiny red spots on the arms are usually harmless. They can come from fragile skin, small broken blood vessels, or minor changes in blood counts. They do not normally mean leukaemia, especially if you feel well otherwise, but your doctor will do a simple blood test to check things out .

Pelvic radiotherapy doesn’t usually cause spots on the arms.
