Abnormal bleeding after menopause - is this likely to be cancer?

Hello, I‘m 55 annd post menopausal. Had abnormal bleeding that lasted a week, it was really heavy with flooding. Been for a transvaginal ultrasound today and my lining is 13mm. I also have fibroids with one going into the lining. Nurse said I will need a biopsy. I’ve also been having my no monitored and been feeling lightheaded/dizzy which GP is aware of. I’m really worried about the lining. Is this likely to be cancer?

  • Hi i am litrally going through the same thing. I have had a fibroid for around 28 yrs it has now calcified in 54 and gone a whole yr without a period then the day I finishes exactly a yr to the day I had very slight spotting. My linning is 6.5 mm b3cause they say any bleeding after 12 months should be investigated. I had a biopsy for this 3 yrs ago and it was clear. Your probably light headed from the blood flow. Some people have 30mm lining and still have a clear biopsy of cancer. Its good that there sending tou for tests as this can rule out cancer. Fibroid can also make you bleed so it could be that.

  • Hi Katdea, thank you so much for replying. The 30mm makes me feel a bit better. Yes, you’re right it’s good to have it checked. Fingers crossed x Glad you results were fine. Thanks for sharing. Take care

  • I am about to have another one because of the slight spotting but im hopful it will be clear. If it isn't then at least it can be dealt with. We will be ok x

  • Wishing you all the best x I hope you are right x Lets stay positive xx
