It last for a few mins then I get the sweats a sense of doom . Is this normal ..?

  • Hello Topknotch and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about the sensations that you have been experiencing. and I can only imagine how unsettling this must be for you. Hormone injections can cause a range of side effects including mood changes and flushes.

I am not sure whether helping control the hot flushes may help with the other side effects that you have been experiencing as you say the hot flushes are what bring on the changes in your mood. This may include cutting down on caffeinated drinks and alcohol and avoiding spicy drinks, wearing loose fitting clothes and being near an open window or a fan. I would also note down triggers to see if you can try and prevent them. It is quite normal to have these funny sensations so try not to worry too much.

I would also discuss this with the doctors treating you so you can get their opinion, particularly if you are finding it hard to manage.

You may find it helpful to look at the information written by the cancer charity Maggie's on managing the side effects of hormone treatment. Maggie's run online and in person courses on the menopause where you can ask questions and speak to others going through a similar treatment.

    I hope this helps.
