Hello and thanks for posting
I'm sorry to read about everything you've been through, both physically and emotionally.
Some patients find moving forward groups and courses run within cancer support centres such as Macmillan or Maggie's can be helpful. Maggie centres offer emotional and psychological support to people who have been affected by cancer. Macmillan and other cancer support centres attached to hospitals run these types of courses as well.
Breast Cancer Now have an online forum where you may find it helpful talking to other women going through similar things and hear about their different experiences.
Doctors often follow specific guidelines and recommendations based on your individual risk of developing cancer in your other breast. If they assess your risk as low, for instance, if you don't have a genetic predisposition like a BRCA fault, they may believe that having a preventative mastectomy isn't medically necessary.
I'm not sure if the NHS would fund surgery that would be thought as cosmetic but do ask them about this.
I hope this is of some use. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards,
Celene
