Pain 2 weeks after mammogram.

Had a routine mammogram 2 weeks ago and have been in pain (both sides equally) since. The literature provided and information online seems to suggest this is not normal. I'm reading there should be no pain, pain during procedure, pain for a hour after, or occasionally for a couple of days.

I've contacted the local service who said they would get a radiographer to phone me, but I've not heard back.

It's affecting my daily activities, very painful when I take my bra off, sore in shower, having to wear a soft bra to bed. It's also affecting my sleep. I've had my results letter and it's clear. DD and took my period 3 orc4 days later. Over 50 and slightly irregular periods, but only very recently. I have never had breast pain like this during my cycle..

I'm becoming worried something is actually wrong now, an injury, and that it might not improve. Very limited information online about pain lasting this long.

  • Hi there misty-moss

I am sorry this pain is still ongoing for you. Do speak with the breast unit again about this so they can advise you about what may be going on.

In the meantime take pain relief and continue to wear a supportive and comfortable bra.

I really do hope this resolves for you soon.

    Take it easy

    Naomi

  • I'm hoping you are feeling better by now .It has all slipped my mind a bit as I'm fine now, but I certainly won't forget nor will I be getting one again.

I was due to get a phone call a week past Monday, so 11 days ago, and they didn't call. I didn't follow up as there seems no point now. I do hope you are better now. Interested to hear if you actually got any further info on why it was so bad, as I'm still very puzzled about mine too!
