Being called a liar

I was confronted with “I’m not saying that you’re a liar but a friend of mine had the exact same treatment as you and she’s fine.

A harsh blow

  • I’ll add a little more detail. Radiotherapy knocked my socks off. I was really sick. Lethargic, still in pain.

I wouldn’t lie, it’s simply how I’ve been. Not being believed is devastating.

  • Oh my goodness poor you how dare they say this  no 2 people are the same also no 2 treatments are the same this person needs to be educated please try to ignore them you have a big enough fight of your own to contend with this.
                  YOU GOT THIS

    • Well that sounds like an easy person to drop. If they aren't giving you positivity they are not bringing anything to the party. You have got this, what you are feeling is real xxx
  • Hello Teazy1 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are going through treatment for cancer. Everyone reacts to treatment in different ways so no two people are the same.

it is important that if the treatment is giving you side effects that you discuss this with your team and they maybe able to make adjustments with your medication.

Macmillan has some information on Eating well and keeping active during cancer treatment which you might find find helpful to look at.

It is important that you don't compare yourself with other patients. Doctors are well aware that people react to treatments in different ways.

I do hope that this has helped reassure you as well as the other lovely comments from the forum.

Do give the nurses a ring on the helpline if you would like to talk any of this through. The number to ring is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine

    Hi Teazy,

That’s why swear words were invented!
I believe you because I’ve seen the impact on people I love.
I also know that not everyone responds the same to treatment and that no decent human being would say that to someone in your position.
If this was your boss, just a wild guess, you have a good case for work place harassment.

    Good luck!
    Dave
