CREON dosage

I hope this isn't a silly question. My CREON dosage currently is five for breakfast and six or seven with main meals, and one to two with snacks.

Nowhere in any website can I find what constitutes a snack One with a biscuit or two and then two with a cake, do you think? and more than a cake would be a meal?

  • Hello and thanks for posting

A snack is usually something small eaten between meals. For example, a biscuit or two, yoghurt, toast, a piece of fruit, or a small cake or bun. You are correct in saying that one to two capsules is usually fine to take with a snack, and two capsules with a piece of cake is usually what's recommended especially if it's creamy or rich.

But it's important to remember that CREON dosing isn't an exact science. Two people can eat the same thing and need different amounts. The best thing to do is to follow your doctor or dietician’s advice on this,

I hope this helps.  Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you. That is helpful. Since starting taking CREON , about two and three quarter years ago after major surgery, the dosage has varied and increased with conversations and advice with a GP. I am, gradually, learning about my "new" me; I have about half a pancreas.
