Bascellex 50mg advice

Hi,  i have been on Bascellex for 9 out of a 16 week treatment plan.

The area being treated is my Vulva.

When i apply the cream (3 times per week), It burns my skin all night so i don't sleep at all on these nights.

My consultant suggested putting Emla on first as it's a numbing cream.  didn't work.

Do you have any suggestions as to what i can do to reduce burning and get some sleep?

regards

  • Hello and thanks for your enquiry,

I can appreciate that this is difficult for you at the moment.

It may help to take some simple painkillers such as paracetamol before bed. Using a barrier cream such as vaseline or baby barrier cream just beyond the treatment area can prevent the bascellex from spreading onto normal tissue. Use a plain, unperfumed emollient (moisturizer) like Hydromol, Diprobase, or Cetraben liberally on the treated area, but not within eight hours of applying the Bascellex cream. Keeping the moisturizer in the fridge and applying it cold can further soothe irritation.

Do check with your doctor if you can stop the cream for a day or two to help the skin recover a bit. Sometimes if the skin is very sore, a mild steroid ointment, such as Betnovate or an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream, may be prescribed by your doctor to help control the severe inflammatory reaction and soothe the skin. Wearing loose clothing and sometimes having a cold pack wrapped in a towel near the area may help.

I hope that it improves soon for you,

    Kind regards,
