Analgesics during treatment

I had my second chemo treatment of paclitaxel on Jan 1st and I’ve been getting pain in my abdomen and legs. I have been commenced in mst 10mg bd. 
How long does the pain usually last for? I have a history of alcohol dependence and I am anxious that I don’t become dependent on mst. I have been abstinent from alcohol for just over a year now. Should I keep taking the mst until the end of the chemo course, which is, I think 6 sessions?

    It is something that you should discuss with your care team at the hospital or your GP as they know your individual circumstances. Or have a chat on the phone with the nurses here on Monday. Did you mention to them that you have had problems with alcohol? The worry is less about addiction to morphine and more that if you do take alcohol and morphine together it can be dangerous, obviously not a concern in your case as you are abstinent.
