  • Hello Valley1 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation.

The doctors are probably waiting until you have had investigations on the spots on your lungs before they go through what is involved in performing the operation. Every case is very different depending of the location of the tumour and the neurosurgeon who is performing it.

We do have some information on our website on Spinal cord tumours which you might find helpful to read.

You may also find it helpful to get in touch with The Brain Tumour Charity. They have an online community where you may be able to speak to others who have had a similar type of operation. They do also offer 8 free sessions of online counselling if you feel that you may benefit from this.

I also hope that you are managing to get support from a specialist nurse at the hospital whilst you are going through any investigations.

Try if you can to take one step at a time. Let your team know about any concerns that you have, so they can talk these through with you.

You are very welcome to ring the nurses on our helpline. The number to ring is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
