- Hi, I've just been told I have womb cancer. The biopsy results confirmed cancer, I now go for an mri in the next couple of weeks. I forgot to ask in the appointment does the biopsy showing it's definitely cancer mean a bad prognosis?
Hello and thanks for posting
A biopsy showing womb cancer does not automatically mean a poor prognosis. The biopsy confirms that cancer cells are present, but it does not tell the stage ( extent ) of the cancer, and that is why you are going to have the MRI scan.
Many womb cancers are found early, often because symptoms like bleeding lead to tests and investigations fairly quickly. Surgery is the main treatment for early stage womb cancer.
You can read more about womb cancer and treatments on our website.
I know waiting to have further tests is difficult but hopefully you will know more soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards,
