I cant take this pain, and before treatment

My tonsil cancer, never used to hurt but this past two weeks its been hell, my throat feels like its on fire, i didnt expect this level of pain before treatment does this mean the cancer hasgot worse.  Its went from a lump to my whole right side of my throat, paracetamol and codine dont touch the pain, in fact i think the long term use of paracetamol has caused headaches

im literally cant take any more pain its constant, the oral morphine makes me nauseous

  • Hello Elizabeth, I am so sorry to hear what you are going through.  I know exactly how you are feeling because I am going through the same thing.  I have stage 4 breast cancer which has now spread  just about everywhere.  I am on oral morphine  and paracetamol, but it seems that these medications no longer work..  I  intend making an appt. to see my GP tomorrow and ask if anything can be done to control the pain I am in.  Like you, I am starting to feel desperate.  This disease really is monstrous.  I wish you well,  xx

  • Thank you,    Good look with the GP.

  • Hi there Elizabethr and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your situation and the pain you are in.

It is really important to let your specialist team or GP know about this so they can prescribe you medication that controls your pain and doesn't cause you other unpleasant side effects.

Morphine based pain relief doesn't agree with everyone but there are other things your doctor can try to help manage this for you.

You haven't said if you have any upcoming treatment but as I say do speak with your team about these worsening symptoms so they can best support you at this time.

Wishing you all the best but do get back in touch any time. The helpline is also open weekdays 9-5 on 0808 800 4040 if you prefer to call.

Take care and I hope you feel more comfortable soon.

    Naomi
