Myeloma

Hi

I have suffered with continued back pain for around a year after a hysterectomy and I have been under the care of a consultant. I was due to have a steroid injection but they didn't do it as he felt is is more of a mechanical issue and I need to exercise more. This pain is not only in my back but it affects my hips so badly that I struggle to walk some days. I am exhausted with this and nothing I do seems to help. I paid for a private consultant who gave me Muscle relaxants and anxiety tablets that I have been on which has helped but I feel the pain is being masked and its just so painful if I over do anything. I have had hours of physio and paid hundreds for massages which are nice at the time but the issue is becoming unbearable.

I have looked into other issues and this brought me to look into this page and Myeloma seems to have symptoms that I am suffering with now. I have been in touch with the doctors to arrange a blood test but thats not for 4 weeks.

Last year I had a MRI scan that showed nerve damage but I dont feel settled with just this. Am I over reacting?

Thank you

Alison

  • Hi Alison and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about the pain you are in and how this is affecting your life.

It sounds reasonable to see your GP again about this and to ask if further tests can be done, just to be on the safe side.

Symptoms can be caused by many different things and it can be difficult to find the cause sometimes especially with back and pain in the joints.

You would have thought as you had the pain last year that if anything untoward had been going on it would have been picked up by the MRI you had but I can appreciate the ongoing issue is of concern to you.

Speak with your GP when you can and see what they suggest.

I hope you get some more answers and a solution soon.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
