  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to read about what's been happening and can appreciate that any new or worsening symptoms can cause concern.

Your new swallowing difficulty and chest and shoulder pain symptoms should be checked out. The acid reflux, hiatus hernia, and oesophagitis you have can sometimes flare up badly. It doesn't automatically mean they are due to cancer. But as your symptoms have changed and your PPI medication is no longer working, the best thing to do is to make an appointment to see your GP to get checked out just to be sure. They are trained to assess symptoms and can arrange tests if they feel it’s necessary to try to find out what might be going on. If needed, they may consider referring you to the hospital for further tests.

I hope you know more soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
