Inverted nipple

Hi  i would like to ask if nipple inverting following lumpectomy and radiotherapy 1 .5 years ago is common or should I refer myself back to my breast care team ? Thank you.

  • Hi FredaS and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to learn that you have required treatment for breast cancer.

I can appreciate the concern you have over this new symptom.

While nipple inversion can be a result of scarring and tissue changes from the previous lumpectomy and radiotherapy, a new or sudden change in the nipple should always be assessed by a healthcare professional.

I suggest you contact your  breast care team or GP as they can assess you and send you for further tests if needed.

I hope you know more soon and everything is ok.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support

It might help to talk things through with one of our nurses on the helpline. You can call for free on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

    Kind regards

    Tina

  • Thank you Tina, I have taken your advice and contacted the  team and will be referred to consultant. I don't want to over react everytime a change happens but you have reassured me that I  can trust my instinct
