Hi Kindlek and thank you for your post.
I am sorry we have not answered your query in time.
The time it takes for Plenvu to work can vary from person to person. While some may have a bowel movement within 2 hours, for others, it may take several hours, especially if you have a history of constipation.
We would always recommend that you speak to your GP or hospital team for advice on these situations.
I hope you found assistance elsewhere.
Kind regards
Tina
Hi Kindlek, did the bowel prep work in the end, I’m to take mine Saturday 6pm. Also how was it and I hope you had good results xx
Hi, thank you for your reply. Nothing really happened until about 4am but when I took the second dose at 6am then it really started to work. The laxatives are grim and iit was definitely a struggle to take but I found alternating between the laxative prep and water helped. I had the colonoscopy yesterday and opted for sedation. The procedure was fine and although a bit uncomfortable at times was not really painful and was over pretty quickly. Happy to say that they didn't find anything sinister but have taken a routine biopsy just to make sure. I hope all goes well for you, I would definitely recommend the sedation if you have someone to go with you. It is a scary time but it is super quick and I was told the results almost immediately. Wishing you lots of luck. xx
Hi, thank you for your reply, I spoke to 111 in the end who were really helpful and after the second dose it started to take effect and was able to have the colonoscopy done. x
Thanks Kendlek for answering, I’m panicking that plenvu won’t work but the 111 idea is something to remember. Yes I’m going for the sadation as well, how long after was you allowed out, they told me I’d be there 3 hours. We have an hours car journey and never been to that hospital before. I’m really pleased you got good results and it’s all over and done with. Xx
Hi, the person I spoke to on 111 advised that as long as you have some kind of bowel movement after the first dose then it is ok to take the second and it is more potent that the first so don't panic if you feel not much has happened after the first. However, if you still don't have any movement after taking the 2nd dose then they did advise to contact the clinic but I am sure that it will be fine, it seems to work for most people. I was allowed to leave pretty soon after the procedure, maybe half an hour. They took the needle out for the sedation straight away and gave me a tea and a custard cream! The doctor came to see me to discuss the results very quickly and I was allowed to go home after that. I felt pretty ok afterwards although I did have a lot of stomach cramps but I am absolutely fine today. I think the whole thing from start to finish took about 2.5 hours but the procedure was about 15 mins.
