Parathyroid tumour in lymph nodes? I've been having an ache in clavicle on the same side. Should I mention this to my GP?

Following a consult following MRI scan I have been told that I have adenoma in the palate of my mouth. Also it showed a lymph node abnormality in the parathyroid region. I am now to have a needle biopsy under scan. I am concerned as I have had an ache in my clavicle on the same side. I am concerned as I did not know to mention it at my appointment not realising it could be relevant. Do I need to discuss with my GP for him to arrange an xray or for him to inform the consultant. I now have worries it may be metastasis in the bone? Please can you advise? Thank you

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry you are feeling worried and can appreciate waiting to find out more is very stressful, and our minds often imagine the worst possible scenario.

There are many possible reasons for discomfort around the clavicle, such as muscle strain or inflammation of the joint that have nothing to do with cancer, but should be checked out just to be sure. Do let your GP know so that they can make sure everything is checked out properly.

I know it’s easier said than done but try and take it one step at a time until you know more. Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help.

Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind Regards,
