Hi, I've had post menopausal bleeding for nearly 2 years, more or less from restarting hrt, I'm 59 years old.
I was referred for an ultrasound scan in November 2024, the lining was 6.8mm but the radiographer said its fine.
When I saw my gp she said she'd refer me to gynae.
Had an appointment February this year & an hysteroscopy was performed (wasn't expecting that as noone had told me) they took a biopsy & said there was a polyp, they said they'd write to me with the biopsy results & I'd need to have the polyp removed, they increased my utrogestron to 2 tablets a day & said theyd insert a mirena coil when they remove the polyp, normally in around 3 months, I've never had such a painful procedure like this before & had to lie down afterwards as I felt faint & sick.
Heard nothing from gynae regarding the biopsy but my gp said the results were normal.
I've had more or less continuous bleeding ever since with just the odd week off.
I've spoken to the clinic a number of times & been told they have a backlog of about 3 years for suspected cancer cases.
I've not been in any hurry to have this procedure as the hysteroscopy was so painful I'm dreading having the polyp removed.
I've also got degenerative disc disease in my spine, mainly at the neck, c4 - c6 & had surgery in June to put a cage in, I've also been suffering with sciatica now for at least 5 years, the neurosurgeon has said that my lumbar region is also badly affected & he can operate on my L5 / S1, however, my back has been getting so bad lowdown aswell as a bad stomach that I'm worrying now that it's not from my spine but perhaps from the polyp.
I rang the gynae clinic this morning who said I should get an appointment before Easter next year, she also said she'd add me to the cancellation list should anything happen & to speak to my gp re my low back pain & she could expedite the appointment to gynae for consideration.
I'm so sorry for the long post but I'm getting so anxious about it all, does anyone have any advice please? I'm so worried that as its been more than 8 months since the hysteroscopy, what if the polyp has become cancerous (probably just my over active imagination)
