Still waiting

I have been waiting since 22/6 for a definitive treatment. I have had a CT scan, colonoscopy, PET scan, lung biopsy and lung functionn test .

Each time a referral and after the test a consult.

I have contacted my radiologists' secretary today and she says I have to have a consult with the radiologist before I can go on a waiting list for treatment.

They found secondaries in my lungs in June but continue to find hurdles to prevent me actually getting any treatment !!

I find it do hard to cope. Not sure what to do as don't want to be labelled as a trouble maker !

  • Hello Carogriff, and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn everything you are going through at the moment. This must not be easy.

Waiting for tests, test results and treatment can be stressful and cause anxiety, and it sounds like you have been waiting a long time, which must be very difficult.

I wondered if you have a specialist nurse you can speak with about your concerns about waiting so long for treatment. Or if this is not possible, it may be helpful to speak with PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service). They are a confidential service that can help and advise people who may have any concerns with their NHS care.

I can understand that it may feel uncomfortable highlighting your concerns, but it sounds like it has been a long time since you have been waiting, which I imagine is very frustrating and worrying, especially after being told you have secondary cancer in the lung.

I hope you can get support with this and a treatment plan soon. Please get back to us if you need further support or have any questions. If you would like to speak to one of our nurses on the helpline, you can call between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, freephone 0808 800 4040.

    Jemma
