I recently had an endoscopy where biopsies were taken - then told I had early oesophageal cancer -went for a procedure - iodine was used and I was told cancer is bigger than expected ( was 2 cm - now 5 cm ) -so now waiting for more histology and mdt
It is never easy waiting for histology results particularly when there have been changes.
It is difficult to comment on someone's individual treatment as this is usually decided on a case by case basis. After a cancer diagnosis the case is discussed in a
Multi Disciplinary Team meeting where all the different doctors involved in your care discuss your case and work out a treatment plan.
The MDT approach is recognised as the most effective way to reach balanced recommendations based on research and NICE Guidelines.
Following the meeting, you will receive an appointment with the doctor regarding the results and to discuss the proposed treatment plan.
Treatment options are tailored to the individual. The options available for your treatment would depend on the grade and stage of the cancer.
